Dr. Sonia Alvarez-Robinson

My Mission is Building Resilience

For more than 25 years I have been helping individuals and organizations to navigate change.  I started my career as a problem solver, helping to resolve conflicts and challenges between individuals and groups as a certified mediator.

Later in my career, I led People and Change services for a global consulting firm.  In this role I worked around the world as an advisor to executives and leaders as they made changes in their organizations.  This often involved indivdual coaching to help people impacted by change to reenvision their futures and prepare for heatlhy transitions.

But in 2013 I faced my most challenging change management assignment.  I became a widow at the age of 44 after being married to my best friend and soul mate for 13 years.  While it was devastating for me and my family, it taught me so much about navigating change and building resilience.

From that experience I discovered my true calling - to serve as a coach, mentor, advocate, and champion for those who are dealing with adversity, uncertainty, and change.

I became trained in the Restore technique through my faith community and completed a one-year coaching program through Coach U.

I designed and teach a college-level course at a major research university called Building Personal and Organizational Resilience: Overcoming Acute Shocks and Chronic Stressors.

I am a PhD in Human and Organizational Systems and earned a masters degrees in Human Development.

I have three adult sons, three grandchildren, and enjoy a wonderful home life with my mother, my partner, and my darling black lab.
